Brassball World Series Metropolis vs. Santa Barbara - Game Four

Down two games to one, the visiting Santa Barbara Outlaws sent their undisputed ace, Justin Verlander, to the mound to face Metropolis Avenger ace C.C. Sabathia.  It was a rematch of Game One, when Verlander and the Outlaws won 4-2.

Alex Rodriguez doubled home Drew Stubbs to start the scoring.
The two starters traded zeros for the first two innings, but the top of Santa Barbara's order strung together some baserunners in the top of the third.  Leadoff man Drew Stubbs walked to start the inning, but Sabathia then got two quick outs from Carlos Santana and Adrian Gonzalez.  With two outs, the real trouble started.  Alex Rodriguez doubled home Stubbs and base hits by Curtis Granderson and Buster Posey scored two more runs, pushing the Outlaw lead to 3-0.

Justin Verlander dominated in Game Four.
Santa Barbara added to their lead in the top of the sixth.  Jose Bautista threw away a Brandon Phillips grounder, putting him on second.  Carlos Gonzalez sacrificed Phililps to third and Elvis Andrus drove him home with a single.  With that, it was 4-0 and Verlander was doing nothing to give Metropolis hope for a comeback.

Verlander threw seven innings and five of them went 1-2-3.  The only baserunners he allowed were a leadoff double in the second and a one out walk in the sixth.  Verlander also struck out eight along the way,

Mike Adams closed out the win
to tie the series.
Santa Barbara went to its bullpen in the bottom of the eighth inning, giving the Avengers a chance against someone other than Verlander.  The Outlaws used four different relievers in the eighth but still allowed a run, thanks to an error, a balk and a Matt Wieters double.

Mike Adams got the last two outs of the eighth inning and then retired Jesus Guzman, Andrew McCutchen and Robinson Cano to save the win for Santa Barbara.
With the series tied at two, Santa Barbara will call on Jered Weaver to give them the lead.  Metropolis, however, has a real question, however.  Doug Fister is next up, but he had a disastrous Game One which came on the heels of a 7.94 ERA in three NLCS starts.  If Fister doesn't get the start, Kyle Lohse will likely take the ball.
